Dates:
Dates have been set for the next 8 WEEK MEDITATION CLASS commencing on Tuesday 5 September 2023. Please email me if you’re interested in joining.
Online Meditation Classes:
These 8 week courses are run online and are designed to teach Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation. In this course we explore the benefits of meditation for healing and wellbeing, the causes of excessive thinking, the stress response and the relaxation response and their impact on health and healing, as well as the 4 foundations of Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation – preparation, relaxation, mindfulness and stillness including their applications in daily life.
This course is designed for all levels of experience from total beginners to experienced meditators. Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation (MBSM) is an approach to meditation developed by meditation teachers Ian Gawler and Paul Bedson.
Fees:
The cost for the online meditation course is $280 for the whole course. Please let me know if you are experiencing financial stress so we can discuss options for you.
Getting Connected:
This is an online course and I will be using Zoom as our means of connecting. Once your registration has been confirmed you will receive a Zoom invitation. To access the course you will need to connect via the link in the Zoom invite and then enter the password provided. It’s a good idea to test out Zoom prior to the first session to make sure that your computer’s audio and video are working well. Zoom has the facility to check that these are in good order.
The class will begin at the designated time however the session will be open 10 minutes prior to our commencement time so that we all have a chance to settle into the space before we begin. Please try to ensure you are connected in well before the scheduled meeting time. Given the nature of our class, once the session has begun the Zoom meeting will be locked and you will be unable to join the session.
In the class:
In order to participate in the class you will need to be seated in a private space away from interruptions and other people. The only seating requirement is that you have a comfortable place to sit for the duration of the course. There is no requirement that you sit on the floor, or a cushion or any other meditation aid, however you are welcome to use these if they are at your disposal and you find them comfortable. Most of us will be sitting on chairs, preferably without hand rests and with a straight back.
Please turn off any other devices you might have in the vicinity including any programs such as mail, that are on your computer if you are using your computer’s audio.
There will be some interaction between us all throughout the classes and you are welcome to share as little or as much as you like, time permitting; however, please be aware that we have limited time to get through our material so keeping your responses brief will be appreciated by the whole group. There will be time for questions throughout each session.
Resources:
You can access a range of resources related to the course on this web page. In the Resources page you will find some references for great meditation books and web pages.
There is a Student Access page which will include worksheets from each week’s session as well as recordings of the meditations we have done each week so that you might practice in between sessions. To access this page you will need a password which will be given to you at our first session.
Please let me know if there are any other resources you would like included on the web page. You can email me at jenny@meditatingspace.com.au
